They have not entered in recent years due to the financial cost however the town is still adorned by flowers maintained by hard working volunteers. |
millionaires ViewpointAffectionately known to the local community as "Millionaire's View" this viewpoint offers stunning 360 degree views including the Dornoch Firth, Dornoch Bridge and a number of Scotland's biggest mountains.

falls of Shin and Salmon LeapCarved from the great glaciers of the last Ice Age are the Falls of Shin, a breathtaking natural salmon leap set in the heart of the Scottish highlands.
Its mighty currents force the icy waters over ancient riverbeds creating the perfect habitat for freshwater fish such as the graceful Atlantic Salmon. Visit the Falls of Shin and see if you can catch sight of the salmon, leaping upstream to the calmer waters of their birthplace, Loch Shin, to spawn future generations. Falls of Shin is recognised as being one of the best places in all of Scotland to watch leaping Atlantic Salmon, and the fish can be seen anytime between May and November, with the late summer months making this almost guaranteed. |
Dunrobin Castle and gardensDunrobin Castle is the most northerly of Scotland's great houses and the largest in the Northern Highlands with 189 rooms. Dunrobin Castle is also one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited houses dating back to the early 1300s, home to the Earls and later, the Dukes of Sutherland.
The Castle, which resembles a French château with its towering conical spires, has seen the architectural influences of Sir Charles Barry, who designed London’s Houses of Parliament, and Scotland’s own Sir Robert Lorimer. The Castle was used as a naval hospital during the First World War and as a boys’ boarding school from 1965 to 1972. Dunrobin Castle is on the east coast of the Northern Highlands overlooking the Moray Firth, just north of the villages of Golspie and Dornoch (famous for its cathedral and Royal Dornoch Golf Club). |
falconry Display"A visit to Dunrobin Castle now includes daily birds of prey flying demonstrations during the months of April, May, June, July, August and September on the Castle lawn. See spectacular shows featuring golden eagles and peregrine falcons, both resident birds in the Scottish Highlands. Learn more about other local birds of prey as well as the ancient art of falconry. Additional attractions include more exotic species such as the European Eagle owl.
Andy Hughes, our professional resident Falconer demonstrates and explains the different hunting methods used by owls, hawks and falcons in a series of fascinating aerobatic displays. Every show creates superb photographic opportunities. Falconry was originally developed as a means of hunting fast or difficult prey as food for the table, and is still practiced for this purpose in many parts of the world today. To train one of these fierce and fabulous wild birds is a long and difficult process and requires patience, expertise and dedication. Dunrobin Castle is proud to be able showcase this ancient art." |
DornochThe Royal Burgh of Dornoch is an historic town on the edge of the Dornoch Firth, a designated National Scenic Area in the Highlands of Scotland. Its tranquil location, scenery and climate have attracted visitors for decades. Invergordon Tours particularly likes having an ice cream on Dornoch beach, shopping in the old Jail or visiting the 13th century cathedral. It's also a great place to grab some lunch!!
