Loch Ness Group Tour 2018
This sold out twice in 2016 and 2017 so it's back again by popular demand in 2018. Our Group Tour to Loch Ness for 2018 takes in the very best sights of this magical part of the Scottish Highlands including a cruise on the world famous Loch. Our guests love spending time on the loch trying to spot Nessie but even if you're not a monster spotter Loch Ness is a spectacular sight to behold, especially fromn the water. Outlander fans will be especially excited to see the real Inverness, Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, the standing stones at Clava Cairns and Culloden Battlefield.
BUT OUR CRUISE SHIP OFFERS A GROUP TOUR!
So why book with Invergordon Tours? Our group tour to Loch Ness is the complete opposite of the cruise ship organised group tours. My number one rule is to not bore everyone to tears reeling off fact after fact until everyone on the bus resembles zombies clawing at the windows hoping to get off the bus and never return. We make the day fun, informative and relaxed you're on holiday after all lets have some fun!! My guides try to spend time with everyone individually and are present throughout the day if you have any questions or requests. We run around all day making sure you have the best day possible. The difference is we really care about you leaving the port with a smile on your face!
Please note there are no lollipops with numbers on them and you definitely aren't herded around like cattle.
My goal was to create a private tour on a larger scale so that more people could enjoy our tours. I believe we are achieving this but we are constantly looking at new ways to make out tours even better.

Urquhart Castle
The historic Urquhart Castle proudly sits on the shores of Loch Ness and draws crowds from all over the world. The present ruins date from the 13th to 16th centuries but some sources claim William the Lion had a royal castle at Urquhart in the 12th century.
What better way to see it than cruising in on a boat and the best thing about this option is you don't have to queue at Urquhart Castle which is a huge bonus or cruise days.

Inverness
The capital of the Highlands sits on the river ness and features excellent restaurants, walks and shopping opportunities. Inverness Castle sits proudly as the centrepiece of the Highland Capital unfortunately you can only view the castle from outside as it is the Sheriff's Court. We just do a drive through Inverness past the most beautiful sights as there is so much to see in the area your time is better spent elsewhere.
Culloden Battlefield Exhibition and Visitor Centre
The final battle between the British Army and Jacobite forces took place on the moors of Culloden finally putting an end to the Scots bid for freedom.
The visitor centre and exhibition take you on a journey back in time and give you a real insight in to what happened all those years ago.
There's also a great example of a Thatch house which we rather like!

Clava Cairns
The real standing stones of Inverness are estimated to have been there since around 2000 BC. This bronze age burial cairn has gained a huge amount of interest following the Outlander books and Tv series. You will now find people from all over the world touching the largest stone and posing for pictures much like people do at the leaning tower of Pisa. Even if you're not an Outlander fan this place of tranquility has an amazing feel and is one of our favourite places to share with our guests.
Cawdor Castle
Dating from the late 14th century and still lived in to this day Cawdor Castle is magnificent to behold and is a fantastic example of a private fortress.
Fromer Vogue editor, Lady Isabella Cawdor, moves to another residence during the summer to allow guests to wander around her home in amazement. Mentioned in Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Cawdor Castle has a medieval tower built around the legendary holly tree. The grounds are gardens are also a big draw to the castle.
