Tours last for approximately 6-8 hours allowing you to maximise your time in the Highlands. Shorter tours can be organised on request should your cruise dock for less than 6 hours as can longer tours be organised should you wish to see more of Scotland.
We will depart from Invergordon’s Cruise Liner Port as close to 8am as possible, taking in the beautiful scenery of the Scottish Highlands. We like to pride ourselves on the fact we don't run to a set itinerary for the day. We have a number of highlights that we will recommend but you are in charge of the tour and you decide where to go. Naturally you will be able to stop for numerous picture opportunities and we will return to Invergordon's cruise liner port at whatever time suit |
dalmore distillery"The Dalmore Distillery has been producing exceptional single malt whisky since 1839 and, for almost a century, was owned by the Clan Mackenzie. The clan’s defining influence on the distillery is still evident to this day, with the iconic royal stag’s antlers (taken from the Mackenzie family crest) adorning each and every bottle of The Dalmore.
Located on the northern shores of the Firth of Cromarty, deep in the spectacular Scottish Highlands, the distillery is perfectly placed to take advantage of a feast of natural resources: from the waters of Loch Morie, found high in the hills overlooking the distillery, to the golden barley of the rich coastal soils of the Black Isle." Clynelish distillery"Clynelish Distillery is a distillery near Brora, Sutherland in the Highlands of Scotland. It was built in 1968, adjacent to the original Clynelish distillery which was closed. Confusingly the original distillery was reopened in May 1969 as and until July 1973, produced a heavily-peated whisky to supply for blending; this was done to cover a shortage of Islay whisky caused by a drought on the island. The old distillery was renamed Brora Distillery and production of a peated spirit continued up until 1983.
Clynelish has had a strong connection with Johnnie Walker blended whisky for many years. A large proportion of the spirit used in Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve comes from this distillery." wiki/Clynelish_distillery |
Balblair distillery"Each Vintage represents an exact moment in time. A moment of perfection. It’s the ability to judge that precise point in time that makes Balblair so special.
Welcome to the idyllic coast of the Dornoch Firth, the home of Balblair. It’s here, since we rolled out our first barrels in 1790, that we’ve been producing award-winning Highland Single Malt whisky. At Balblair we only ever release our whisky when it’s ready. Every year our Distillery Manager, John MacDonald, selects whiskies that have reached their exact point of 'optimum maturation', the peak of perfection. That’s why we only create Vintages timed to perfection. Timing is everything. It’s an art. An alchemy. A way of life." Balblair.com |

Glenmorangie distillery"The Glenmorangie Distillery tour gives you unparalleled access to the distillery and warehouses. With the help of an expert guide you will experience all stages of the whisky making process from mashing and fermenting to distilling and maturing - all culminating in a dram or two of your choice!
At Glenmorangie we select the finest oak casks in which to mature our whisky. But that's not all, because we then only use each one twice (whilst many others use theirs up to five or six times), ensuring that the maximum amount of flavour is always extracted during maturation, delivering a rounder, smoother taste." what else is in the area?
The Struie Hill Viewpoint (as it's known to the locals) is often your first stop on a tour with stunning views of the Dornoch Firth and on a nice day to the mountains to the north and west.
The Falls of Shin and the Salmon Leap is also close by and Atlantic Salmon can often be seen leaping the falls, making the final push toward their birthplace for the cycle to start all over again. There's also a brand new visitor centre here set to open next month.
I can highly recommend Dunrobin Castle as it is one of my favourite places to go in Scotland and always goes down well with guests to the Scottish Highlands. The falconry display is amazing - Andy (The Falconer) has been working with local birds for over 25 years and his knowledge and passion shine through. He's a very interesting character!! The castle is like something out of a fairytale and set in the Scottish Highlands it looks magnificent!! It's only a short drive to Clynelish, Balblair and Glenmorangie so some or all of these can be included in your tour.
Dornoch is in my opinion a must see place in Scotland - one of my favourite Scottish villages. It is home to a stunning golden sandy beach and the world class Royal Dornoch golf course. But even without these things it just takes you to another time altogether. Highly, highly recommend!!
Carn Liath is only a 2 minute drive north of Dunrobin Castle and is a fine example of a broch – a type of fortification found only in Scotland. It also offers great views of Dunrobin Castle.
The whole area from Invergordon is absolutely beautiful so you will be treated to fantastic scenery throughout.
Let me know if there's anything else which really interests you or that you would like to tick off your to do list in Scotland and I can make some suggestions. It's possible to head South to Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle and Cawdor Castle but this would need to be an 8hr tour and would include around 4hrs driving time.
